Suffolk County is the easternmost county in New York State and is included in the New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Suffolk and Nassau counties together are generally referred to by area residents as "Long Island," as distinct from the New York City boroughs of Queens (Queens County) and Brooklyn (Kings County), which together make up the island's western end.
